What was in the water in Peru in the early ’70′s? Well amongst the musicians on this new compilation it was fermented sugar, aka Chicha, which influenced an entire new sound combining Cumbia, Garage and surf rock and Amazonian melodies. It sounds as unique on the speakers as it does on paper, only more joyous and addictive. Barbés Records just released the second volume in their series The Roots of Chicha, and it is set to make the Chicha revival a full on movement!
