Free Download – Undersea Poem – Makes Me Happy

Pre-Order Undersea Poem from Six Degrees Records

Some of you may be familiar with Chris Root & Juju Stulbach from their well loved former band, Mosquitos. Like their previous ensemble, the duo’s new musical incarnation Undersea Poem, continues to mix Indie rock jangle with Brazilian cool with some magical new twists thrown into the mix. Undersea Poem is less rock & pop than Mosquitos and more intimate and personal. The couple recorded much of this record in a friend’s villa in a small town in Mexico and the sun and surf of their environment have seeped into these lovely songs. Seductive traces of bossa nova can be felt throughout the project as Stulbach performs some of her lyrics in Portuguese or as beautiful wordless vocals. As you’ll hear on today’s free download of the track “It Makes Me Happy”, Undersea Poem has the sensual feel of beautifully arranged chill-out or, more accurately, bliss-out music, with an almost cinematic sense of place. One can feel the gentle pull of the waves or the warm shimmer of the tropical rain. The occasional twang of surf style-guitar punctuates a track, but Undersea Poem is more reverie than rave-up.

I love the mix on this! The bongo mix at the start is great!

These are very mellow sounds that make me feel like I am at the beach on a hot day.
