What an exciting week it was for Dom La Nena on her first U.S. promotional tour!
First up was LA for Dom’s U.S. live radio debut on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic with Jason Bentley. Dom stripped her tunes down for an interview and set that included a cover of the National’s “Start a War”. The show is available to listen to over here. While in LA Dom also popped by a music store to pick up a new distortion pedal. Check out this video for a taste of the good vibes that ensued!
Next on the cross-country journey was a quick stop in San Francisco, where Dom was greeted in the Six Degrees office with Tartine pastries before playing a couple of songs for Rhapsody’s South Park Sessions.
A busy couple of days in NYC were next in store. First on the agenda was meeting with Six Degrees publishing partners at Primary Wave Music before shooting a song for Huffington Post’s A-Sides Sessions. And to top off the trip Dom recorded a session with Kurt Andersen for WNYC’s Studio 360.
Dom will be back in the U.S. for a tour in June!
New video. New beautiful vibes. Yesterday Dom La Nena released a video for Anjo Gabriel from her debut record, Ela. Check out the latest of of Jeremiah’s productions!
Another video that gets our bones shivering is this one from Jeremiah! Catch Dom La Nena and Piers Faccini deliver a soul-warming rendition of Dessa Vez!
Check out Niyaz’ new song and video from their upcoming SUMUD the acoustic EP (released worldwide 3/19)! Based on a traditional devotional Persian poem, “Naseem” features a duet from Azam Ali and the flute-playing of Habib Meftah Boushehri.

On the most musically bright of sides on this otherwise dark weathered morning, today (2/19) saw the release of Ascend, the new album from David Starfire. Hailed as his most “live” project thus far, Ascend serves as further evidence of Starfire’s innovative mastery of musical fusion. A sound that knows no genre-limiting boundaries, “Ascend” features what Starfire describes as “an eclectic mix of bhangra, Arabic, dub, reggae, dubstep, moombahcore, trap and other genres produced in ‘Starfire’ fashion”. On Ascend a collaborative spirit propels the good vibes of Starfire’s category-defying sound. Among artists featured on the album are founding father of hip-hop Afrika Bambaataa, fellow members of the Six Degrees family Cheb i Sabbah and Natacha Atlas, Desert Dwellers, iCatching, and Sheila Govindarajan.

This month a most musical of paths has led Egyptian Project to the source of their sound, a February stint in Egypt prior to a month-long tour in France and a July Morocco tour. The brainchild of French producer Jérôme Ettinger, Egyptian Project blends electronic and acoustic music with the sounds of Egypt’s musical tradition. Their February soiree with Egypt brought the guys to French Institute in Mounira (a sold out performance that led to an encore show), Cairo Jazz Club, and French Institute in Alexandria. We are excited to hear that today Egyptian Project announced two encore concerts in Aswan (2/20) and Abu Simbel (2/22). Check out these photos from the Egyptian Tour as well as the “Anta Ana” track from Egyptian Project’s debut album, “Ya Amar”.
