Adham Shaikh has been creating his own unique blend of global/ambient/electronic fusion for many years now. His talent for combining global sounds with lush atmospherics and compelling beats makes me always look forward to his artist releases and his always excellent remixes. He’s been busy on both of those fronts of late with a crop of great new mixes for the Footsteps in Africa Project, Nickodemus, Omar Faruk Tekbilek and others, as well as two excellent new artist releases that are among the best of his career. His new Resonance CD collects some of his gorgeous ambient work that he has composed for a series of films and instructional videos. The spirit of Brian Eno lives in the best possible way throughout the tracks on this collection and this is honestly some of the most beautiful, pure ambient music I’ve heard in quite some time. The track Adham has generously let us share with you today is from his more upbeat Universal Frequencies release. This project is aimed more at the dance floor and gloriously mashes together sounds from India, Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East with Shaikh’s unique approach to electronica. Any fan of global fusion or psy dub will find much to love throughout Universal Frequencies varied tracks. Now I just can’t wait to hear the David Starfire remix he’s working on!
